Life is a ceremony and the things we a·dorn or a·noint ourselves with should be a celebration and an honoring of this sacred life.

Malas were first created in India 3000 years ago and have roots in Hinduism, Buddhism and yoga. The term ‘mala’ is a Sanskrit word for “meditation garland.” Originally, mala beads were used for a special style of meditation called Japa, which means, “to recite.”

A mala is a string of 108 beads, knotted in between with one bead the 109th known as the guru bead.

The guru bead symbolizes gratitude and our connection to the divine and our journey into enlightenment.

Mala’s are used as a spiritual tool to help the mind focus on meditation. During your  meditation you repeat a mantra softly, 108 times, using your mala beads to keep you focused.

These sacred Mala’s are made from 108 Sandalwood beads. Sandalwood has been celebrated as the perfect meditation tool for thousands of years. It is widely believed that the sandalwood scent can stimulate sensuality, promote a deeper sense of awareness, invoke tranquility, awaken the divine thoughts within and promote profound relaxation. It can benefit deep healing work and increase spiritual energy.

Sandalwood stimulates and works on the base Chakra - believed to enhance trust and self-identity.

The 109th bead (The ‘Guru’ bead) is a Lava Stone. Lava Stone is a grounding stone that strengthens one's connection to Mother Earth. It gives us strength and courage, allowing us to feel a sense of stability through times of change.

You can drop essential oils of your choice onto the Lava Stone to hold their energy and scent as you wear this beautiful piece. I personally recommend either Frankincense, Arborvitae, Roman Chamomile or Sandalwood to a·noint this sacred piece.

These beautiful Sandalwood Mala Beads are hand-carved from natural wood in the mountainous region of Nepal. The Sandalwood is fragrant and aromatic.

Each Mala has been hand knotted by myself reflecting and honoring tradition and authenticity. No two pieces are the same.

They have all been made lovingly whilst in meditation, listening to medicine music. Each piece has then been cleansed and infused with healing Reiki energy.
